Explore the historic city of Durham, where the dramatic skyline is dominated by the stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Cathedral and Castle. Bill Bryson called Durham 'a perfect little city' and with churches, chapels and cafés dotted throughout, the city has an illustrious, religious and tempestuous past that can be uncovered in many of its attractions.
We follow the route of Hadrian’s Wall, calling at the ancient market town of Hexham and visiting Chesters Roman Fort. Here, we learn more about what life was like on one of the Roman Empire’s most northern outposts and the most complete Roman cavalry fort in Britain.
Return home.
Please note: Chesters Roman Fort is closed in November so for tours departing during this time, the excursion will instead include a scenic drive along the route of Hadrian's Wall and free time in Hexham.

Apart from a whole day in Durham, which was far too long, the holiday was excellent.

Hotel was great, however net curtains needed on ground floor windows. Tours were good however more time was probably needed in Bambrough.

Was a great Holiday, great driver Chris, lovely Hotel and room at the George hotel Chollerford, staff were outstanding. Setting Beautiful and excursions great. I'd go alone again not with a friend again but the huge single supplement shearings put on for solo travellers prevents this for me as it would make a good value Holiday expensive. So sad.
