Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then to northern France for an overnight stay.
Continuing south to Italy, we arrive in San Bartolomeo on the Italian Riviera this evening.
Today we cross the border into France. Once a small fishing village, Cannes is now a glamorous seaside town considered to be one of the best social hubs in Europe, as well as playing host to the annual film festival in May. Take time to check out the beauty and architecture of Le Suquet, with its cobbled streets and breathtaking views, or sit at street side tables and enjoy the favoured hobby of people watching up and down the lovely marina.
We will then continue on to Grasse, known as France’s perfume capital. Surrounded by beautiful blossom fields, Grasse is a stunning destination filled with lovely sights, such as Saracen Tower, the International Museum of Perfume and the Church of Plascassier.
We will explore Monte Carlo, situated in a prominent position at the base of the Maritime Alps. At the western end of the resort is the world-famous Place du Casino, the gambling centre which has made Monte Carlo the playground of the rich and famous. Enjoy the breathtaking vista of the fabulous marina with its impressive yachts as well as the palace of Monaco.
Discover the pretty village of Portofino, hidden away in a peaceful coastal inlet shielded by olive clad slopes. The view from the harbour is unforgettable and one could spend the entire day admiring it!
We will be able to explore a wide range of attractions while in Portofino, including enjoying views of Castello Brown and visiting the Church of St. Martin, the Church of St. George and the Santa Maria Assunta oratory.
Enjoy a day at leisure or join our optional trip to San Remo, a city on the Mediterranean coast of western Liguria in north-western Italy. Founded in Roman times, the city is best known as a tourist destination on the Italian Riviera, with its Russian church and colourful harbour.

This optional excursion is available to pre-book or you can book during your tour.
Today, you can shop for great bargains in Ventimiglia’s street market and take a trip to Menton, the ‘Lemon Festival Capital of the World’, on our included excursions. Located very close to the border of France and Italy, Menton is, in many ways, more Italian than French. It has its own microclimate, with it generally being milder than the rest of the French Riviera. Here, you will find pretty architecture and wonderful scenery.
We travel to northern France for an overnight stay.

Over all the holiday was excellent. The two drivers could not have done more and young Aaron spending time with a few of us in Monty Carlo was most informative regarding the Grand Prix. The food was ok with the gala night being a high point. The hotel room was comfortable with a balcony that afforded me the opportunity to soak up the sun's rays throughout the day. The only negative point with the room was the lack of a fridge, this being the only hotel I've stayed at with Shearing's that did not include this facility. Being a "singles" holiday we soon became a friendly group, looking after each other and enjoying the company of our fellow travellers. Overall I had a most enjoyable experience made all the more enjoyable by the knowledge and attitude of the two drivers who deserve the highest praise.

Pick up and transfers went like clockwork, tour coach very comfortable, both drivers very professional, Kelvin and Aaron like a double act. The Italian hotel served plentiful food and drinks, my bedroom was a bit dated although the bathroom was excellent. An enjoyable tour programme, sadly unable to make the Portofino trip due to poor weather conditions, we were supposed to include a visit to Genova but didn’t happen either. The intermediate hotel in France was excellent.

The coach seemed dated no tv screens no music . Seats were not that much bigger than other coaches. On board drinks were cheap enough. Stops every 3 hours. Toilet couldn’t be emptied until we left so was out of action for a while and the smell of urine was disgusting. We wouldn’t do a coach holiday again.

The resort and hotel were excellent. A lot of travelling on the coach once down on the Rivera with a few hiccups particularly the trip to Nice with a route march to the front, as coaches weren’t allowed in. Portofino was lovely. Probably one too many excursions from the resort as the coach journey down was very long.
