Local departure by coach, then on to Derwentwater near Keswick and our hotel for four nights. We enjoy a tea, coffee or mulled wine with a festive treat on arrival to get us into the spirit of the season.
Today we visit the pretty village of Grasmere, known for being the home of William Wordsworth. Explore the village where you can admire the spectacular surrounding fells, visit Wordsworth’s grave, or maybe even buy some of the legendary Grasmere gingerbread.
We then call at the picturesque market town of Keswick. Overlooked by the dramatic Skiddaw range in the north and the expansive Derwentwater in the south the town enjoys an idyllic location in the north of the Lake District. Enjoy time at leisure to explore the town before we transfer back to the hotel, or perhaps you'd prefer to walk the 2 mile walk back to the hotel yourself.
We return back to the hotel in time for our 'Christmas Dinner' complete with a complimentary glass of wine.
Relax on the shores of Derwentwater or stroll nearby Keswick, or join our optional excursion to Penrith, the old capital of Cumbria. View the ruins of Penrith Castle or stroll the medieval streets. Stop for a drink in one of the man cafés and browse the shops.
